RFID readers come in many shapes and varieties, one of them – the RDM6300 – operates at 125kHz and comes with an external antenna that can be attached to the case, while the rest of the board is inside the case. Communication is serial (UART), which makes it easy to connect.
If you order additional cards / tags with this reader, make sure you use the ones that work at 125 kHz, which is compatible with this reader!
• RDM6300
• Frequency: 125kHz
• Reading distance: 2-5 cm
• Communication: serial
• Voltage: 5V
• Dimensions: 3.8 x 1.8 x 1.2cm
The module is good if you need RFID that works at 125kHz. The external antenna is a bonus if you want, for example, to have the module on one side of the wall and the antenna on the other side of the front door wall. Caution: The data you get when you read the transponder as in the tutorial is NOT the serial number of the transponder. To get the unique serial number of the transponder, you have to "recalculate" the data obtained first. Search engines can help you further on how to decode the data.
